01. Rachel Getting Married Jonathan Demme's return to form and a nice comeback for Debra Winger.
02. Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist The most magical film I have seen in years -- leaves a definite lasting impression.
03. Let The Right One In Vampires. Sweden. One of the best bloodsucker films ever made.
04. In Bruges David Mamet -- eat your heart out.
05. Dear Zachary: A Letter To A Son About His Father One of the most affecting documentaries I have ever seen.
06. Synecdoche, New York One of the most imaginative films ever made -- and I didn't even understand what was going on!
07. The Signal Low-budget horror at its finest. A perfect example of the new wave of horror.
08. Red Brian Cox gives the performance of his career in an impeccable thriller.
09. Good Dick One of the smallest and most heartfelt films of the year.
10. Son Of Rambow A 1980's film wrapped in a 2008 film's body.
11. The Fall Beautiful. Haunting. One of the last great epics.
12. Pineapple Express One of the best gut-busters I have seen in a long while.
13. Lakeview Terrace Neil LaBute's redemption for the abortion that was "The Wicker Man".
14. Burn After Reading The Coen Brothers doing what they do best with an incredible ensemble cast.
15. Humboldt County Quiet little film about family and marijuana -- what a combination!
16. Transsiberian If you thought Alfred Hitchcock was dead -- well, he is -- but this is a nice homage.
17. Tropic Thunder In the tradition of those big budget 1980's comedies like "Spies Like Us".
18. Iron Man Robert Downey, Jr.'s comeback is official, and I am smiling.
19. Hamlet 2 An offbeat winner with a standout performance from Steve Coogan.
20. Smart People An odd film that has grown on me with each subsequent viewing.
