A researcher at Chicago's Natural History Museum returns from South America with some crates containing his findings. When the crates arrive at the museum without the owner there appears to be very little inside. However, police discover gruesome murders on the cargo ship that brought the crates to the US and then another murder in the museum itself.

The obligatory "not a bad flick" opening statement. The storyline was great, and the effects on the creature were very well done. Kudos to whomever is responsible for that. The gore / decapitations were well done also.... but something just didn't sit right with moi. The plot just kinda died off around the middle / end, like..... "let's whip up an awesome story for the first half of the movie, then just throw in lots of action and killing to finish it off."
The ending was kinda weak to top it off. Shotguns didn't work, freezing it didn't work, but ______ does? (Way of death omitted for those whom haven't spied the movie). I'm not sure of a better method, but I'm positive someone could have come up with something better.
4/10
Decent movie, decent gore, decent effects.... but the last half just shits on the plot-building work of the first half.

One of the most underrated horror films of
all-time...a true pleasure to watch...fast,
furious, and highly entertaining. 9/10.
