I've seen some extremely eye-catching movie titles in my day, but I have to admit that Attack of the Cockface Killer ranks up there near the top of that list. What person - in the secular world, anyway - could stumble across a title like that and not find themselves instantly intrigued? I couldn't resist it either, and while I can't exactly say that I had high hopes for it, it turns out that it was actually a pretty fun little film. Was it a great one? I wouldn't quite go that far, but it sure as hell was an entertaining one.
Set somewhere in Louisiana, Attack of the Cockface Killer takes us to a small little town where the entire population seemingly consists of brawling, sister-fucking rednecks and young hooligans who love their horror movies, tattoos, and heavy metal music. Although the two factions don't exactly see eye to eye on many things, the community manages to keep some semblance of peace thanks to the hard-working officers of the law, but that all changes when people start turning up dead. Oh, and they don't just turn up dead; no, they turn up mangled and with their sexual organs horribly mangled.
Who could possibly be responsible for this madness? Well, we at home know the answer to this right from the start: the Cockface Killer, of course! Yes, this is a man who stalks around town in search of anyone who partakes in the pleasures of the flesh, and they don't call him the Cockface Killer for nothing as... well, he has a rubber cock attached to his chin, to be blunt about it. Decked out in a shredded gimp suit and packing both a butcher knife and a huge black dildo as his weapons of choice, our man about town racks up an impressive body count in the redneck community, but when he starts knocking off the metal kids, they decide to strike back and find out who's responsible. Insert your typical slasher clichés here, and we have ourselves a film.
Here's the deal with this film, as recommending it or condemning it is fairly simple: go read that synopsis again. Done? Alright, did you catch the part about the guy with a rubber cock attached to his chin? You did? Alright, did you also notice that he uses a dildo as one of his main murder weapons? You saw that? Alright, form your conclusions now; if you think that this film sounds like an entertaining night in front of the tube and if you're a fan of cheesy slasher flicks, you'll love Attack of the Cockface Killer. It really doesn't get any simpler than that.
To my surprise, the film wasn't as sex-oriented as one would expect it to be. You see, just about everything I had read about this film led me to believe that it would basically be a porno flick disguised as a horror film, but that actually wasn't the case at all. Yes, there are a handful of sex scenes (some of which are pretty explicit), and yes, the whole dildo thing isn't exactly family entertainment, but there really isn't too much more of this than in most slashers. Most of the finer slashers will give you at least two sex scenes and a shower scene, and here, you get... well, something along the lines of two or three sex scenes and a shower scene. Granted, you see a little more skin here than you would in most slasher films, but the actual quantity is about the same.
Finally, the section that matters: the gore and the kills. This is the department in which the film really shines, as even though the effects weren't exactly cutting edge due to the budget, I have to give the filmmakers major credit for their creativity. There's a couple of the tried-and-true stabbing deaths, but there are also a couple that will either leave you doubled over in laughter or heaving in disgust depending on your level of depravity. As a couple of examples, take the scene in which the Cockface Killer fucks the stab wound on a young woman's stomach with his giant black cock, or the scene in which he finds a clown masturbating with a penis pump and decides to kill our good pal Bozo by "pumping him up" far past the limits that the device was intended to go. It's far from politically correct, but I'll be damned if it wasn't some quality entertainment.
If this sounds like your sort of thing, don't hesitate to pick up a copy: it delivers on everything that it promises and comes with a bucketful of laughs. It does have its flaws (namely, some amateur mistakes in regards to the sound levels), but those of you who enjoy the bizarre will definitely get a kick out of this one. 8/10.
