Russell has two passions: watching television and farting! He also loves Heather. Heather HATES farting. The eternal triangle! One day she warns him, "if they ever allow farting on television, you'll never leave the house!" One evening he goes to sleep in front of the TV, and "it" happens. Virtually everything on TV is fart related, from sitcoms and commercials, to newscasts and dramas. --IMDb

Where does one even begin when discussing a film entitled Fart: The Movie? I mean, I'm sure that we all love a good fart joke now and then (I know I do), but who came up with the bright idea of making a feature length film centered around flatulence and the laughs that inevitably follow? What is even more interesting is that there are not one but two different movies with this title, so yes, if you want to track down your very own copy of Fart: The Movie, you're going to have to ensure that you're picking up the proper disc as two radically different films share the same title. Only in America, folks.

The storyline for this one... well, it's a movie about farting, do you really need a storyline? Russell (Joel Weiss) and Heather (Shannandoah Sorin) are the stars of the show for this evening in front of the tube, and this particular couple has a problem: Russell loves to fart, and Heather hates farts. How they ever managed to get married in the first place is another topic altogether, but this love / hate relationship comes to a boil on New Year's Eve as Heather is wanting to go party while Russell just wants to sit home and watch TV while soiling his favorite pair of undergarments. In the end, Heather goes to her party while our hero sits on his ass and watches a selection of television programming devoted to farting, and throughout all of this, the two realize that they truly love one another. Yes, it's a romantic comedy... with farts. Lots and lots of farts.

Now, don't take that "romantic comedy" comment too seriously, as the film more than lives up to its title; out of the ninety minutes that the film runs for, I'd say that about eighty-seven minutes are devoted to fart jokes while the other three are spent detailing this couple's relationship with one another. Depending on your appreciation of fart jokes, this is either a good thing or a bad thing as the film is really a one-trick pony. Have you ever wondered what Jeopardy would be like if it was created by someone who was obsessed with farts? How does a preacher react to the sin of farting? Is there a twelve-step program for those who are addicted to farting? To put it all very simply, do you enjoy a good fart joke? If so, you'll certainly get your fair share of laughs out of this one, and if not, you really should pass on it.

Alright, so you probably could have guessed that this wasn't going to be an art film based on the title alone, so let's get down to what I thought of the film at hand. I mentioned above that I enjoy fart jokes and potty humor, so this film should seem like a good fit for me, right? While it's true that there were moments that had tears rolling down my eyes (wait for the bit about low-flying ducks), I have to say that the material did get stretched a little too thin for my liking by the midway point, and when the credits finally started to roll, I couldn't have been happier. There's simply not enough material in the world to keep flatulence funny for ninety minutes, but I have to give the filmmakers credit for keeping it fresh for as long as they did.

This is going to be a short review, but really, there's not much more than can be said about a film that is basically ninety minutes of fart jokes. It certainly delivers what it promises though, so your enjoyment of the film will be directly proportional to your love for all things gassy. 6/10.
