The members of an expedition in search for the last faithful of Kito, the cannibal god, land on a small island in the Moluccas (East Indies). They are soon hunted by cannibals and zombies created by the sinister Doctor O'Brien, who is experimenting with both corpses and living humans. Susan, a sexy lady in the expedition team, eventually gets the upper hand. She gains acceptance with the natives as queen of the cannibals and directs them against the mad scientist with his army of zombies. --TMDb

Lori and Peter are doctors of some sort at a local hospital, and they've noticed a recent trend of cadavers body parts coming up missing; first a hand, then a heart. When they catch a guy eating one of the hearts, they put the pieces together and realizes there's cannibals from the island of Keto in New York City. So, they decide to hit up this island, along with George and Susan, his reporter girlfriend, to figure out what's going on and get more of an insight into these cannibals... but when they get to the island, they find that not only is it inhabited by cannibals, but also a fair amount of zombies.

Very nice movie. The storyline has a little bit of everything to be found: cannibals, zombies, double-crossing, insane scientist experiments, and the obligatory gut ripping scenes. Suprisingly, with all of this thrown in, the story doesn't get too goofy and stays pretty interesting throughout. The mixture of cannibals and zombies kinda turned me off to this before watching, but it actually worked out quite nicely when all was said and done.

Since this has cannibals and zombies, the gore has to be pretty damned plentiful, right? Indeed it was. The cannibals got some great massacre scenes going, including having traps set up throughout the woods to kill the people before capturing and eating them. Nothing insanely original there, I know, but this was all done with a great amount of niceness. There's also a great eye-gouging scene that was too good to not mention here. However, as good as the eating and trapping gore was, the effects used for gunshot kills weren't near as good. Instead of a hole or something, it looked as though they were using paintball guns with red dye. Thankfully, guns weren't used too much throughout, so this can be overlooked. Sadly, the zombies didn't get as much time as I'd have liked, but the cannibals made it worth it in the end.

The only real gripe I have with this movie was the horrible dub-job that was used. It seems as though they skimped on this aspect, as a good number of lines are thrown together with no real emotion to them; for example, after one of their trail-guides has been killed, the main guy asks "what happened? Where did they come from?" in a tone not unlike that which would be used when ordering lunch from McDonalds. Afterwards, barely giving time for him to finish the last word in this inquiry, another trail-guide replies with his excuse in the same tone. For most of the movie, the dubbing isn't too bad, but when it hits the bad scenes, it's plumb awful.

Overall, a great flick if you enjoy the whole cannibal genre of movies, as I do. 7/10.

Great movie, but the scene with the dummy's arm bursting off really bothered me. They could have easily fixed that up, and that scene is even in their trailer. 8/10. Could have been a 9 if not for that little arm disaster.
