When I walked in and seen an envelope from Frozen Flesh Cinema sitting there, I just had to laugh. Here we go again. Considering that creator Justin French has admitted that this, along with Frozen Flesh, is nothing more than a prank film, I'm sure a lot of people would question this film being on here. I don't blame them, but why the hell not, especially since this one is actually a bit more realistic of a joke.

According to the DVD case, the plot reads "A fun-loving, unsuspecting woman checks into a hotel and encounters a cannibalistic mass murderer who is possessed by evil spirits!" And unlike Frozen Flesh, that plot is almost conveyed here. Cue the Justin French trademarks. Never-ending shots of nothing, annoying "ominous" music, and everything is tinted blue. But wait! We're treated to something new. Added, is an hilariously bad attempt at sex appeal. Over the course of an hour, we see a guy watch some chick in a pool, jerk it, tie her up on her bed, writhe around for a while, then watch some girl take a shower in a bikini. Between these scenes are close ups of feet. Lots of closeups of feet. Those creepy foot fetish people are going to love this one.

The two films were made "as an act of vigilance for all filmmakers out there who dedicate their heart & soul to their films, only to have them torn apart" and as "A joke designed to bring out the best (and the worst) in vicious audiences who will spit and hurl personal insults at artists who want nothing more than to have themselves heard creatively." In that regard, Evil Spirits fares a lot better than Frozen Flesh. It's a little closer to an actual film, and you can maybe see how some egotistical director would claim it's just too "deep" and nobody is "getting it". And of course, this one has potential as the first ever foot fetish horror. Congratulations on your new genre.

I had the urge to 'saw' it, but I figured I might as well watch it before destroying it.

There is nothing positive I can say about this film. It's downright awful. It's pretentious, self-serving as thought he thinks he's being clever by 'poking the system', he's really just showing a complete lack of creativity. 0/10.

Maybe it's just me, but if a filmmaker is trying to get a point across - would it not be more beneficial to create something worth watching to begin with?

You would think, except the point was to make something unwatchable. That's why I didn't give it an actual score in the review. I mean, officially it has a 5, but that's just because I don't think I can give it nothing.

Well, at least you're being a good sport about it LOL.

BTW - just now, I had the (dis)pleasure of catching a couple of clips on YouTube, just to see what all the fuss was about.

I guess I missed something - but absolutely nothing happened.

Basically. Welcome to the world of Justin French.

We already have a filmmaker who directs films where nothing happens...his name is Renny Harlin.

Die Hard 2 is alright. Although worst of the 4 IMO. Yes, worst than Live Free.

I have to admit I've never seen any of the Die Hard movies.

That's a tough one. I have to say "Live Free or Die Hard" is the worst of the series. I would rank them: (01) Die Hard, (02) Die Hard with A Vengeance, (03) Die Hard 2: Die Harder, (04) Live Free or Die Hard.
