Eager to start afresh, the unsuspecting couple of Anthony and Dolores Montelli, along with their four children, move into their dream house in Amityville. However, right from the very first night, strange paranormal experiences shatter the Montellis' fantasy, as the restless spirits of the dead and the new home's dark secrets open the unfathomable black portal of hell. Now, the family's older child, Sonny, has become the perfect vessel of destruction, as the invisible demonic forces claim his soul. Can Father Frank Adamsky cleanse the infernal Amityville House?

Taking place shortly after the first movie, we find another family moving into the house. However, differently than the first, this family is quite nuts. The father is abusive, the oldest son hates father, and sister loves the brother a bit too much. A guy who's fixing up the house notices a trapdoor in the basement closet, and opens it up... only to let the demons / ghosts / whatever out into the house. Again, things start out tame enough; a mirror cracks, things fall, strange noises are heard. Again, things get worse midway through; much worse.
Better than the first movie in the series, even though it was almost a complete rehash of it. A LOT of the plot was ripped off from it, and I don't mean just the basic storyline.... loads of the major plot turns and such were almost identical to the original. But this is how the first should have been done, in my ever-so-humble opinion. The gore and effects were excellently done, especially in the finale... If you want to pick up a movie from the series, I'd suggest this one before the original. Not too often that happens, but yep.

Actually, this is prequel so picking it up before
the original would make sense in the order of
things.
