Right here in the opening paragraph, I'm going to tell you readers that I didn't particularly care for Millennium Crisis. However, this is a bit unfair to the film at hand due to the fact that I'm not a fan of science fiction; if I were to rate Star Wars or Star Trek based purely on my entertainment and not on their cultural impact, I'd probably be going with an extremely low rating. Therefore, the fact that I wasn't a fan of this one should be taken with a grain of salt by those of you who do enjoy this sort of thing, but in sticking with my "review everything that I watch" policy, I'm going to give my two cents anyway.

Aurora (Clare Stevenson) is the leading lady for this outing, and she just so happens to be an extremely rare being known as a Bloodmask, which means that she's the descendant of a chameleon-like race of humanoids. This little fact doesn't go unnoticed by Harkness (Tao Jones), the leader of the vampiric Kluduthu race, who plans on using her to set off a massive war against the Andromedeans that will basically annihilate that race. Aurora finds an ally in Lucretia (Olja Hrustic), a cyborg who may or may not have ulterior motives in helping her, and the gang eventually find themselves on a remote desert planet where they will engage in a massive battle that will determine the fate of numerous races. Ted Raimi and Ato Essandoh also appear in minor roles.

Again, I want to point out that my lack of enjoyment in regards to this film is mostly related to my lack of love for the genre. I'm just not a big fan of these flicks that take place thousands of years in the future and revolve around alternate races of humans who come from planets that are billions of years away with technology that is infinitely greater than anything we've seen in our own little world - they simply don't do anything for me whatsoever. Therefore, when you see the rating at the bottom of this page, tack on a few points if you do enjoy these movies, as it's really not that bad with all things considered.

Truthfully, that little matter of my personal opinion is the chief complaint that I had with this film. There's an entertaining storyline here and the performances are a cut above the average mark, and I was also impressed with the world that the filmmakers created for their actors to appear and interact in. These sort of visuals would have been cutting-edge a decade ago, and the fact that a couple of low-budget filmmakers were able to achieve this was actually pretty impressive. Granted, you're not going to mistake this for the latest offering from George Lucas and crew, but when compared to a lot of other direct-to-video science fiction offerings, it does look damned good.

Really, there's not a whole lot more that yours truly can say about this one. It's not a bad film and those of you who dig this sort of thing would likely get a lot more enjoyment out of it than I did, but at the same time, I can't give it a high rating when I just didn't enjoy much of it. Therefore, I'm going with an average rating: a few points have been knocked off due to my personal preferences and a few points have been added thanks to it being better than most of the direct-to-video offerings of this nature. 5/10, but you can bump that up to about 7/10 if you enjoy this sort of film.
