Have you put together a film that you want to get some exposure for? Are you a distributor that wants to get the word out about your releases? We here at MvMMDI pride ourselves on covering everything from the low-budget indie offerings that may slip under the mainstream radar up to the multi-billion dollar Hollywood releases. As such, we'd love to check out your film and give it an honest critique on the site.

Why choose us to review your film? Well, we're very knowledgeable regarding the history of film, and without getting too cocky, I think that we've got a team of damned good writers. This site receives hundreds of hits per day from movie-loving folks who are looking for something new to check out, and the content is also syndicated with MMMDI, our parent site that receives well over ten thousand hits a day. We also receive visits from some pretty big names in Hollywood; director Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs, Driftwood) called this, and I quote, a "great fucking site" as just one example. Needless to say, having your review posted on this site will make your movie known to more than a couple of people.

We have a number full-time reviewers on the site, and as our tastes in movies vary, you may find that one of us would be more interested in your film than the other. Please note that the likes and dislikes sections below are not definitive; for example, while I may not be a fan of romance films, that doesn't mean that I absolutely will not review one.

So, interested? If so, let's meet the reviewers:

Likes: *** Horror. I honestly don't care what sort of subgenre it falls under or what the intention of the film is (be it to shock, scare, or disgust) - if it falls under the horror banner, I'll likely love it.

*** Comedy. I like most types of comedy, especially black / dark comedies, but I'm not one to pass up a good toilet-humor film either. "Reality" films such as Bumfights and Jackass are also entertaining.

*** Exploitation. Almost anything under this banner will be enjoyed by yours truly with the only exception being full-fledged porn. Erotica / softcore with some sort of a storyline is perfectly fine, Teen Gangbang Tryouts isn't (well, at least not for review purposes).

*** Anything else that doesn't fit snugly into any one genre and / or has a good storyline.
Dislikes: *** Anime, cartoons, animation in general.

*** Romance. If it's your typical "boy meets girl / boy falls in love / girl falls in love / they live happily ever after" story, don't bother. If there's some sort of unique spin on it, I may be interested.

Likes: (01) Horror. This is my favorite genre. I will give anything a chance, but it had better be well done. It shouldn’t matter if you have a $10,000,000.00 budget or a $1,000.00 budget – a good film is a good film. The acting needs to be strong, the gore effects need to be quality and cute guys in the lead roles are never a minus. Eye candy is very helpful, even if the film is bad.

(02) Drama. This has to be really well done for me to recommend it, and low budget drama is just really difficult to pull off. So, if you have a low budget drama, be sure it is really polished before you send it to me. Otherwise, it will probably get picked apart. I don’t give people points for effort alone – there needs to be something substantial there in the material to recommend.

(03) Comedy. Like everyone else, I love to laugh. I prefer slapstick, i.e. “The Naked Gun” or “Anchorman”. But, I also enjoy mockumentaries and juvenile humor, occasionally. I cannot stand films that would potentially star Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider or Kevin James.

(03) Documentary. I love a good documentary. And, since the documentary format is so low budget by nature, as long as the subject matter is interesting and the film is well constructed, it’s a safe bet I am probably going to enjoy the picture. Non-fiction is just fascinating to me.
Dislikes: (01) Bad dialog. Nothing kills a film for me quite like two people exchanging terrible dialog.

(02) Bad acting. Just because you have a low budget, doesn't mean you can't find better actors than most independent filmmakers.

(03) Over lighting. I hate when it looks like every bulb in the building is burning. I like the use of natural light in films.

Likes: Horror. This is primarily the only type of film I watch. So if you've got a horror film floating around, I'm more than game.

Exploitation/Sexploitation. I pretty much enjoy anything in this particular genre. Especially in the 70's - 80's time frame.

Giallo. If you can pull this off in this day and age, I tip my hat to you.

Comedy. Considering it's all been done before, it takes a pretty smart comedy to impress me. ie Judd Apatow.
Dislikes: Romance. But I'm a sucker for the occasional one if it involves a good story.

Action. As a rule, I hate action movies. The few exceptions are few and far between.

Picked one of us? Great! Send us a copy of your film along with either a link to a site with information about it or a note containing the needed information. If you have an iMDB listing, that's perfectly acceptable; as long as we know what information to fill in for the movie, the source really isn't important.

Information we need:
Requirement Director(s)
Requirement Writer(s)
Requirement Distributor (if available)
Requirement Official movie website (if available)
Requirement Original release date (the premiere, the DVD ship date, whenever this was first made available to the general public in some way, shape or form)
Requirement DVD release date (if available, and if different from the original release date)
Requirement Some sort of cover image (DVD cover, theatrical poster, etc.) to represent your film if available.

Now that we have your movie in our grubby little hands, give us about a week to review it. Reviews will generally be posted within a day or two of receiving the movie, but since real life is so unpredictable, please don't quote us on such a narrow time frame. If you'd like to be notified when the review for your film has been posted, please let us know (and don't forget to send us your email address).

Thanks!
