Oddly enough, picked this up only a few weeks ago
on amazon for $8. Still as good as it was when I

Godzilla
|
|
Saw it a second time within about 15 hours of my
first viewing. I actually enjoyed it less, and
found myself dozing off in the theater a few
times. I'd still go with a 6/10 though, as there
are some truly brilliant scenes, and the CGI is
absolutely mind blowing.

Godzilla

I find myself very underwhelmed right now. There
was a handful of amazing things in this movie, but
sadly, they were strongly outweighed by all the
issues I had with it. Maybe it requires a second
viewing, as Cloverfield didn't click with me till
the second or third time, but for now this gets a
6/10 from me.

Best part of this movie was the opening few
moments...when they "recapped" the

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

Just watched this for the first time in 5+ years.
Still amazing. Gondry has a very distinct and
unique style of film making and it's very apparent
in this picture. Nearly impossible to find a flaw
in this one.

Wow, weird that we watched this on the first day
of comments. Anyway, yeah. I got about 30 minutes
in and headed upstairs for a nap. Totally was not
digging this. Should have been campier. Boo.
2/10 for what I saw.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked
this one. I expected it to be a real middle of the
road film without much to offer, but I quite
enjoyed it.

2/10? Good gravy.
I felt this was a
pretty legit remake, and Shawnee Smith eating shit

Recommend the 3D version? Are you kidding? There
was 3, maybe 4 moments that actually had some 3D
value. The rest was terrible and out-of-focus.
Avatar. That was great in 3D. This was atrocious.
I kept taking my glasses off and was able to see
the movie totally fine. Not worth extra money, at
all.

Enjoyed this one. For the most part, I haven't
been digging the last bunch of Marvel DTV titles,
but this one was awesome. Probably just because
I've always been a Hulk fan. Either way, enjoyable
movie.

Pontypool is actually about 25 minutes away from
where Darrin and I live. I've heard nothing but
good things about this movie. For the most part,
meanie's got pretty good taste when it comes to
horror movies. I think I'm going to have to try
this one out now.

Running Scared
|
|
I've never been a fan of Paul Walker, and going
into this film for the first time, I really had no
idea what the story was about. I can't stress
enough how impressed I was with this film. It
wasn't just your typical run-of-the-mill gangster
movie. There were a lot of twists and turns, and
quite a few story arcs added in to beef up the
story. Again, agreeing with Meanie, it was nice
that the film received an R rating. It allowed the
director to put out a quality film, rather than
that fluffy shit you usually see flooding the
screens. I saw it for the first time about 3 years
ago, and gave myself just enough time to forget
some of the aforementioned twists and turns. Made
for a great watch the second time around as
well.
9/10 sounds about right.

Really loved this one. Had a very Hitchcockian
feel to it, which I felt worked perfectly given
the source material. I could not find a single
thing wrong with this film. The performances were
solid, the camera work was great, albeit different
from what you usually see from Scorsese, and the
score was fantastic. All in all, a perfect
suspenseful film.

In no way a fatty? I'm out of shape, but I'm proud
to say I don't have a big fat mess hanging off my
cheeks and neck. This girl had a killer set, but
she was a fatty. She was on O&A a few weeks
ago. I saw video of that. Guess what. She's still
a fatty.

Night Of The Creeps

Just as good as I remember it being. I must say
though, I think the original ending was better
than the one on the newly released DVD. Luckily
it's included in the bonus features. Also anything
with Tom Atkins is immediately cool.

Don't Look In The Basement
|
|
I'm sure it'll make you a fortune.
This film could have been decent...had something
actually happened. There were just too many scenes
thrown in that didn't move the story along at all.
Surprisingly the acting was pretty damn decent,
and aside from a lot of padding, the story was
pretty solid. Not the greatest thing ever made,
but certainly eons better than I expected it to
be.

It was nothing to write home about, but I was
surprised at how much I actually enjoyed it. I
figured it would be one of those movies I would
regret sitting through, but it managed to hold my
interest the entire time. A rare feat for a movie
of this calibre.
6/10 sounds about
right.

The Howling
|
|
You know, after watching it again, it really isn't
as good as I remember. It strays from the source
material quite a bit, and a lot of the scenes feel
out of place. I don't know if it was the editing
or what, but scenes were tossed in where they
really didn't fit. After repeated viewing, I think
this one drops down to about a 6/10 from myself.

Yeah, no. This movie was terrible. It was one of
those shitty TV "Ghost Hunter" shows
turned into a movie. Not original, not scary, not
worth watching. I checked the remaining time every
5-10 minutes I was so bored. And as far as the
theatrical ending vs the screener ending, they
were both trash. The only good part was the girl's
set. Too bad she was a fatty.

Yeah, so this movie was just this side of perfect.
I had a few minor complaints here and there, but
overall I couldn't find a single thing wrong with

and the movie really moved along at a nice pace.
Definitely in my top movies of the year.

King Kong

One of my fondest childhood films that I've seen a
million times. Even watching it now you an still
appreciate how revolutionary and ingenious the
special effects were. We just don't see this kind
of attention to detail anymore. Great
performances, a classic story, and one of the most
iconic characters to ever appear in movies.
Without a doubt, 10/10.

True Blood: Season 2
|
|
Aside from Evan Rachel Wood showing up and doing a
horrific job of her role, I didn't have a single
complaint about this season. All the acting was
superb, the storylines were great, and indeed
meshed together very well. Almost every episode
ended with a cliffhanger, adding to the charm of
the series and making me wanting more. Come next
summer, I will definitely be all over the third
season.

The Hills Have Eyes
|

Not entirely sure why I didn't comment on this
earlier. What is there to say, really? The
original had a nice story, but was unbelievably
boring. This one was so much better than the
original it's not even funny. Like Dametria said,
let's just pretend this was the original.
Alexandre Aja certainly didn't cut any corners
when it came to the special effects and make-up,
and it was definitely for the best. One of the
most violent and brutal movies I've seen in years,
and I still enjoy it every time I watch it.

Wolf Creek
|

Watched this waaaaaay back when it came out. I
really enjoyed it then, and after watching it
again recently, I'd have to say this film is
nearly perfect. Besides being a little slow at the
beginning and ending quite abruptly, I can't find
anything really wrong with it. Some of the best
character development I've seen in a horror movie
in quite some time. This wasn't just another
Hostel or Turistas, and the film wasn't
over-the-top for the sake of it. Very enjoyable,
and definitely better than people give it credit
for.

Bug
|
|
I knew what the film was about, but I didn't think
it would go as far as it did. It just did not let
up. Great performances from Ashley Judd and
Michael Shannon, and even Harry Connick Jr was
able to pull off his role without looking like an
idiot. Those last 20 minutes were really quite
intense. I really couldn't find a single thing
wrong with this movie. 10/10
On a
side note, I don't find the pizza delivery all
that confusing. They imagine the phone is ringing,
they are cutting themselves up to get rid of
"bugs", they tinfoiled the apartment,
and they killed a man they thought was a robot. I
don't think an imaginary pizza delivery is that
much of a stretch.

Trick 'R Treat

I'm with Chad 100% on this one. This is what a
Halloween movie should be. I've been looking
forward to this movie for the last few years,
while it's been stuck in limbo, and the wait was
well worth it. It was just as good as I'd hoped,
and better. Definitely the kind of movie you pop
in with your date on Halloween night. I won't be
the least bit surprised when this one earns the
"cult classic" title.

Pitch Black

A pretty damn good horror movie. Vin Diesel
included, the acting is great, the story is great,
and it looks good. I haven't seen it in a few
years, but I really can't think of any problems I
had with it. I've never seen the sequel, but it
looks a little more like an action film than a
horror film. Probably why I've taken a pass on it
all these years.

The Last House On The Left
|
|
If they released a version that ended 20 seconds
sooner, I would have given this a perfect score, I
do believe. Everything about this movie was
exactly what you expect in a horror film, then
they had to ruin it all in the final scene. So I'm
taking a few points off for that terrible ending,
but aside from that, a goddamn fine horror movie.
Another Craven remake that far surpasses the
original. Who knows, maybe there's hope for
Nightmare on Elm Street after all.

Lost: Season 5
|
|
I actually yelled at my screen after the finale
wrapped. Boy does that ever make a man feel silly.
Anyway, a great albeit confusing season. Some
pretty interesting developments, some questions
are answered, new ones are brought up. So what
really did happen to Claire? Why is Jack's father
somehow a main player on the island's spooky side?
These are just some of the questions that were
picking my brain for the entire season. I can only
hope they are answered in the final season. The
cliffhanger ending is just ridiculous. If that
won't make you watch the next season, nothing
will. I hate the winter, but I can't wait for
January to roll around.

Lost: Season 4

Fantastic season. On par with seasons 1 and 2, no
doubt about it. In fact, I'd almost say it was the
best season yet. It really felt like they were
starting to get the series back on track and were
thinking about finally wrapping it up. It was nice
to finally see some light at the end of the
tunnel. Can't wait to start season 5 tonight.

Lost: Season 3
|
|
Just finished season 3, and I have to say that I
disagree with Chad. Yes there was some shameful
filler, and yes the story spent a little too much
time on 'the others' rather than our friends on
the beach, but as the storyline advances the
writers really can't keep focusing solely on the
crash survivors. It would just get tiring. That
said, I felt that this season really only suffered
in some of the middle episodes. The first few
episodes contained one of the biggest shockers of
the series, and the last handful of episodes were
amazing - even drawing out some tears from yours
truly. After the finale, I can't wait to jump into
season 4. Not quite on par with the first two
seasons, but definitely not as bad as Chad is
making it out to be. Fairweather fans will
probably hate it, but for those true Lost fans,
it's just a little different.
