Three... Extremes

I watched this the other day. Man was I
dissapointed. "Cut" was a big let down
as I expected big things from it. But no. And no,
I didn't really understand the ending. Did he lose
his mind? I just don't get it. And I hate not
getting the ending of movies.
After
seeing Takashi Miike's short story
"Imprint" I was eager to view
"Box". Again, dissapointed. Maybe I
expected too much from Mr. Miike, but this just
left me feeling let down.
The only
story here worth my time was
"Dumplings". A nice creepy little film,
although very twisted. At least it was better than
"Cut" and "Box".
I like international cinema, although I feel
asian horror films in particular are greatly
overratted. This was no exception. Too confusing
for my "pulp" im afraid, but I always
feel that if you can't put a decent conclusion on
the end of a story what is the point of telling a
story at all? It doesn't come across as
"artistic" as much as it does crap.

Resident Evil: Extinction

Yes. I agree here. I haven't liked any of the
Resident Evil movie adaptations and the just seem
to be getting worse. Avoid this one folks. It's
all bad

The Dark Knight

Wow. The insanity. I'm talking about the comments
btw...
Okay first things first. I'm
sick of the whole "Nolan's better than
Butron, Ledger was better than Nicholson, Bale is
better than Keaton" crap. THEY ARE COMPLETLY
DIFFERENT MOVIES WITH COMPLETLY DIFFERENT ACTORS
AND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DIRECTORS!!!
I have a soft spot for Tim Butron's
"Batman" and "Batman Returns"
I have loved this movies since I was a little kid.
Sure they might seemed a little dated now but they
were the orginal and some would whisper the best
(I do mean whisper. Wouldn't want the fanboys
bursting a blood vessel would we?)
I
thought these movies were excellent. And I thought
Keaton made a great Bruce Wayne, not so much a
great Batman.
I then proceeded to
hate every Batman film Burton didn't make, until
"Batman Begins" came along
Now I really liked this film, and its subsequent
sequel "The Dark Knight". Not as much as
Tim Burton's first 2 Batman movies, but still
liked them a lot. My only gripe with this movie is
I am still not feeling Christian Bale as Bruce
Wayne. Sure his Batman is okay, but lets be honest
his Bruce Wayne just comes across as...bland. Not
enough quirk or spark for my taste. Maybe that's
just because I feel Christian Bale could barely
act his way out of a wet paper bag, or maybe just
because he is a giant douche. Regardless many
people seem to like him in these movies, so I'll
play along just to keep the peace.
As
for Heath Ledger's portrayl of The Joker, I
thought it was excellent. I also thought Jack
Nicholson's portrayl was excellent. And If I hear
one more person say that one is better than the
other I will stab them in the neck with a
sharpened pencil. Two amazing actors both playing
a great character, both giving it its own unique
spin. It's the fact that they both played it
differently that makes The Jokers portrayl so
great in two different movies. Who cares who you
prefer, enjoy both and shut up.
As
for the actual movie, 9/10

Transformers
|

I went into this with very low expectations,
having always been a big fan of the original
Transformers animated cartoon (and toys). I must
say I was suprised. Sure it's not a patch on the
cartoon but also nowhere near the trainwreck it
could have been. So what the hey, can't say myself
or the cinema of people I saw it with disliked
this movie, seemed to be pretty popular as a
popcorn flick, which is probably where Bay's
strength lies.

This is one of those movies you either love or
hate, and I thought it rocked. I have to agree
with bluemeanie's review on this one. Great
characters, soundtrack and script.

Not much I can say about this one that hasn't
already been said. This is one of my all time
personal favourite films. Brought it on a whim
after seeing Ellen Page in "Juno". Boy
am I glad I did. Amazing film, great actors,
awesomely shot.

Hmmm...
I just watched this
yesterday. It's the second movie of Argento's I've
seen, after "sleepless"
Not
sure what to think. I did not dislike this movie,
but can't help feel I was a little cheated. After
hearing so much about this film and how highly it
is rated I felt a little let down, especially by
the ending, but I'm goning to say too much as I
don't want to spoil it for anybody. But come on
people, terrifiying is hardly a word I would use
to describe the last 12 minutes of this movie.
Don't write this one off, it is worth
seeing (mainly for Aregnto's insane use of color
and his camera techniques). But like it's been
said many times before, don't believe the hype.
