The Doom Generation
The Doom Generation Fantastic film. Love it. if you enjoyed this then you'll almost definitely enjoy Kaboom. This is definitely a perfect example of indie filmmaking by Greg Araki with that extra 90's pizazz. Over the top, daring and influential as all hell. I disagree that it blows its load too soon, I think it keeps a steady stream of tension whether it be comediic violence, gratuitous sex or awkward as fuck situations/characters the whole time. Soundtrack was terrific also fitting in all type of shit, more favorably the jesus and mary chain and SLOWDIVE.
One small complaint that didn't really bother too hard was some of the 90s dialogue, it just lost me some places..

Let Me In
Let Me In I hate that they made her look like a monster when she was killing, but the caretakers story was better and that car scene was out of this world great.. I still think the original had a better atmosphere and some sort of mystical tone that this failed to attain. 7/10

A Serbian Film
A Serbian Film Damn, I thought this was a stylish and disgusting little thrill ride. I caught this a couple of months ago in a packed theater in San Francisco, sold out. I know it's gnarly but eh, I just didn't think it was so shocking after spending my time in my late teens watching all that august underground bullshit, but hey that's just me. I've seen it twice now, showing friends and what not, but I'll never watch it again. I recommend it to anyone that's open minded and into shock cinema. 9/10 for bringing my hand to my face a couple times..

Dead Set
Dead Set I have only seen the fan edit "dead set serious", where they cut most the big brother stuff. Definitely any zombies fan dream show or movie, so fun.

The Road
The Road Big fan of the book and I loved this movie. Draining is a good word for it, but I mean that in a good way.

Hell Of The Living Dead
Hell Of The Living Dead I have this on VHS! I saw it when I was younger and loved it, now that I see it I see its flaws but still have a soft spot for it, especially that awesome cover.

6/10 sounds right

Laid To Rest
Laid To Rest I really wanted to enjoy this, but gore just wasn't enough to keep me interested. The fact that the killer drove a car on rims and had a personalized license plate really gave me the bitter beer face. The gore and brutality of it all was pretty awesome though.

True Blood: Season 1
True Blood: Season 1 Second season has been a lot more gory, pretty fun.

I'm into the show quite a bit..

Dexter: Season 1 My favorite TV show on right now, love it.

Resident Evil: Extinction
Resident Evil: Extinction I love the Resident Evil videogame series, even really enjoyed the first 2 of the films.

This was awful. there was never fast zombies in the games(unless you include the faster shambling zombies from the gamecube edition of the first game..), and they didn't need it now.

I really hope good ol' Paul just pulls a fast one and surprises us with a movie that actually sticks to one of the games (RE2 please?), a prequel to the world of the RE movies maybe? fuck I don't know..

28 Weeks Later
28 Weeks Later I saw this for the first time since I'd seen it in theatres and also enjoyed it a lot more than I had then.

the gore effects are ridiculously good and it's a pretty non-stop movie..

some of the cinematography was really annoying (shaky cam) and some of the cinematography was fucking beautiful.

Of course the original was better, but I had a great time with this one too.
8.5/10 for sure

Body Bags
Body Bags I've had this on VHS forever and just watched it again for the first time in awhile. I love this movie. I do take it as a blatant rip, but it's entertaining and fun.

Dead Snow
Dead Snow This was really cool. I had my doubts from the trailer but it pulled through, awesome gore. It did take a little getting used to seeing zombies stab people though..
so entertainging and fun.

Martyrs I really can't think of a single complaint I had with this.. The ending really pulled a fast one and it was definitely the best way to go.

Slumdog Millionaire
Slumdog Millionaire Man, I really fucking enjoyed this.. I don't know what you're talking about when you say it lacks an emotional punch, I'd say it threw quite a few right and left hooks.. This definitely deserved all the awards it received.

I'm excited to see what Boyle does next and I'm excited to see if more subtitled movies get some recognition.

Gutterballs
Gutterballs I also saw the 'censored version' and agree. It had a different cover that looked a lot like the Maniac cover. That rape scene was a liiiittle much, but hey.. If you've seen one rape you've seen most and this was fun ha

Friday The 13th
Friday The 13th Damn, yeah, I enjoyed it for what it was. I thought the "where are you gun?" was funny as hell.
I actually wish Jason WAS a pot dealer, it would have made this mess a lot more fun, but hey..

4/10? that screwdriver kill took Jason like 30 seconds.

Last Life In The Universe
Last Life In The Universe Wow, I saw this movie in iFC or something a couple years back and really liked it.. For some reason I had always searched for it as 'Last Lizard in the Universe', glad you reviewed this.. I remember being totally submersed in this from beginning to finish and it really is a great one. I'm gonna go find it.

My Bloody Valentine
My Bloody Valentine I really didn't like this that much, they could have definitely shaved off a good 10 minutes and made it less of a mine drama.. I saw it in 3D and loved the kills (especially the first one), but I caught myself checking my watch more than once. Coraline trailer was fun... 6.5/10

Repo! The Genetic Opera
Repo! The Genetic Opera Also, I think this would have done A LOT better had it been widely released..
Posted by grain of sand on January 18, 2009
Repo! The Genetic Opera
Repo! The Genetic Opera Well, I thought this movie was pretty bad.. But it had it's moments! Coming from a dude who didn't like "Sweeney Todd" and only slightly respects the what could be genius of "Rocky Horror Picture Show"..

This dude knew what he was doing when he made this movie and that was to appeal to every Hot Topic wearing, Paris Hilton talking, weirdo kids that he could, and he did!

This movie was bad, but for the people who actually enjoy this stuff I can see a whole world of things they would like. To each his own.

I was entertained (premise, set), I just hated the songs and acting.. 5/10

Tokyo Gore Police
Tokyo Gore Police Such a good one.. The croc-gina looked so good, pretty much everything looked great with some small gripes here and there.. Nothing took away from the experience..So awesome that it also came with a good story.. Great editing skills here also.

10/10, I plan on showing all my friends

Tokyo Gore Police I'm getting this right now.. Can't wait.

Gran Torino
Gran Torino I was somewhat taken back on how god damn racist ol' clint is in this, but it makes sense..
The supporting cast was pretty fucking awful, but watching Eastwood as a complete badass again was a treat.
Me and my pops loved it.
9/10 seems right

The Zombie Diaries
The Zombie Diaries I really did not like this movie. It was just.. Boring.
Kinda reminded me of Automoton Transfusion with all the praise on the box and then pop it in and you've been had again......

2/10
The zombie well is drying up, all we have to look forward to is Island of the Dead and World War Z..

Punisher: War Zone
Punisher: War Zone Saw this about a week ago and fucking loved it, I really hated some of the music though..
Honestly, I was far more entertained by this than Dark Knight, But I'm a lot more of a Punisher fan.
Can't wait for the unrated DVD! 8/10!

Repo! The Genetic Opera
Repo! The Genetic Opera Man, this looked like shit.

Splinter
Splinter I really liked this one, it had that low budget charm and nothing was compromised because of it. The way the bodies contorted themselves was super creepy.

Look forward to owning this 9/10

Red
Red I was putting off a viewing of this movie because I thought it miiiight just turn sour.
Thank goodness it surprised me with an emotionally wrenching story and some awesome performances by pretty much everyone in the cast.. I couldn't have been happier with the outcome either, a gripping revenge story with a heart.

Let The Right One In
Let The Right One In WOW.. Fucking beautiful. I haven't felt this way after seeing a film in awhile.. I wanted it to keep going.
The expressions on the kids faces were a big deal, the girl actually looked like she was older inside.
Great story, I can't wait to own this. There is no way in hell Hollywood could recreate this sort of thing.

Stuck
Stuck Awesome movie, better ending than I expected to be honest. Didn't really like the occasional rap music that popped up but that didn't happen but 2 or 3 times.

The Ruins
The Ruins I really liked this, all but the beginning..
Those plants or vines or whatever looked a lot like pot leaves also, am I wrong?
good ending also... 9/10

Mirrors
Mirrors That jaw scene.. I didn't think it would look THAT good when executed..

There were some slow moments and cheesy lines but overall this was Aja's best. Can't wait to see what he does in the future.

Dance Of The Dead
Dance Of The Dead I went in expecting another Automon Transfusion and was pleasently suprised with som eawesome gore and decent acting.. Some laugh out loud lines and memorable characters, especially coach and jules.

There were only a few gripes here and there.. In my opinion the ressurection scene was a little too modern for my tastes, I don't know how they would rocket out their graves..

7.5/10

Jeepers Creepers
Jeepers Creepers Decent horror film compared to a lot of the shit coming out these days. Especially liked the ending, we need more downer endings in horror.

Quarantine
Quarantine Eh, they could have done a whole lot worse with this.. But seeing it after REC just ruins it, it doesn't even come close in my opinion.

I was actually frightened during REC, something I've been waiting for for a long time in a film.. This honestly didn't do anything for me, but my friends who don't read subtitles loved it.

Humboldt County
Humboldt County I saw the trailer for this quite a while back and have been waiting for it to pop up.

Being from around this area it should be interesting seeing how they portray these people. Can't wait to see it now that I've read this review.

All The Boys Love Mandy Lane
All The Boys Love Mandy Lane Definitely a decent and pretty unique entry into the slasher genre. It was fun.. The overall look and feeling was cool, the music and lighting really complimented it all.. Kills could have been better in my opinion..

7.5/10?
