It's time once again for a little softcore action on this site, and this time around, we're treated to a film which was co-written by leading lady Darian Caine. This is her first writing credit if IMDb is to be believed, and while a writing credit for a softcore flick isn't exactly a huge step in anybody's career (after all, these movies aren't exactly known for epic storylines), it was nice to see our Egyptian-loving friend branching out in the filmmaking business.
We begin with an introduction to Anne (Darian Caine), and we soon discover that she has moved away from the city and out into the country where she shares a house with a handful of roommates. She misses her boyfriend and she isn't exactly thrilled about living in a place where making buttermilk is the local idea of an eventful evening, but when Anne discovers that her roommates - Alexia Moore, Iris Blu, Keli Anderson, and Brianna Blaze - have "other" ways of killing time, her mood takes a turn for the better. Yes, these ladies are all lesbians, and although Anne is nervous about being with another woman, she eventually gives in... and discovers that she may in fact be more a fan of fish than meat. Don't blame me for that analogy, it came straight from the movie.
Alright, so it sounds like the setup for your average softcore lesbian flick, and really, that's what it is. We get all of the various girl / girl and girl / girl / girl combos you'd expect, and of course, Darian gets her own solo scene as well (a scene in which she makes creative use of her phone). There's also some toy action to be found amongst the ladies, including the usage of a pistol-shaped vibrator which definitely has to be seen to be believed. I'm far from an authority on sex toys, but I've never seen anything quite like that one.
There's also a bit of genuine plot sprinkled in amongst the sex scenes, with the main emphasis being on Anne's relationship with her boyfriend. It begins just as one would expect, with our poor city girl lamenting about how much she misses life in the fast lane with her significant other, and it slowly progresses from there to "Well, I've been thinking about experimenting with these ladies", and finally into... well, you do the math there. Suffice it to say that things don't end too well for the man in the picture.
There's also an interesting subplot about a man who follows Anne around "Girls Gone Wild" style with a camera and pesters her for either a striptease or a good ol' romp in the hay, but unfortunately, there's no resolution to this little piece of the story as he shows up a few times, bugs her, and then just vanishes. I know it's unrealistic to expect too much from a skin-flick, but it would have been nice to have seen where they could have went with that.
Overall, that's pretty much what Forbidden Desires is: a skin-flick. It's pretty good when compared to other releases from the genre, but obviously, you're not going to want to go into it expecting an award-winning storyline or great acting. This one is for the guys in the audience who want to see hot girls getting it on with one another, and since I happen to fit snugly into that demographic, I'm going to go with a 6/10.
