Curt and Julie are your typical young couple in love, except for the fact that Curt's father is the head of a military project that's working on ways to use the 2-4-5 Trioxin chemical in warfare. As you may remember from the first movie in the series, 2-4-5 Trioxin is a chemical that was originally created for use on marijuana, but it was found that it also brings the dead back to life. Anyhow, Curt knows his father is involved in the project, but has no clue as to what exactly it's all about; so, he steals his fathers key-card and decides that Julie and himself will sneak into the building and find out what's up. Since his father is the lead man at this place, he has no problems getting in. After finding out everything that the chemical does during his sneaking around, he and Julie leave the building and go back to his place to get a little bit of sweet romance going on; however, this is broken up by Curt's father, who shows up and informs him that there was an accident, and that he's being relocated to Oklahoma in one week. Curt says that that won't do, since he wants to stay here with Julie, so they take off on Curt's motorcycle. However, he ends up running off the road and Julie dies in the accident. Curt remembers the whole chemical bit and how it brings the dead back to life, so he sneaks back into the building and uses it on her. Since the bond between them was so strong, and since Julie was a relatively fresh cadaver, she's pretty normal at first; but as her brain starts to die, she starts turning more and more into your typical zombie. The rest of the movie deals with them trying to figure up a way to cure her, running from a gang of Mexicans they run into, and trying to avoid the army that's trying to capture her to avoid mass infection.

A wee bit of a different take on the zombie film, but it does work out nicely. The total zombie count is a bit low (about fifteen-twenty total) as the movie mainly focuses on Curt and Julie, but the storyline does keep things interesting throughout... there's plenty of twists and new developments to keep things moving throughout the film, but again, don't expect to see huge hordes of zombies as in other flicks.

Julie (Mindy Clarke) is by far the hottest zombie I've ever seen. She's the lady pictured up above on the cover, though that picture isn't very flattering. However, when it comes to her acting in the film, it's a bit of a toss-up... she does fine in most scenes, but there's more than a couple where she just screws things up royally with her lame line delivery. Curt (J. Trevor Edmond) is the same way, though he tends to have more screw-ups than Julie. A bum known only as Riverman (Basil Wallace) is actually the best person here, acting-wise, but he's only used as a supporting character, with very few lines or scenes.

Even though, as I mentioned, there's no huge hordes of zombies to be found here, that doesn't mean that they skimped out on the gore and kills. No sir, things move along nicely in that department, with a grand total of at least fifteen kills, with about twelve of those being shown in detail. The DVD version of this (which is what I watched) is only available as the R-rated version, but the VHS is offered as unrated. I won't go into the incredible lameness of that decision here, but I can only imagine what the differences are, as the gore shown here was top-notch. One scene that I particularly enjoyed has a guy meeting up with a zombie, only to have his head mostly ripped off. By mostly, I mean that all the flesh is ripped away, with only the spine keeping the head attached to the body, and even the spine has been pulled a good deal out... so we have a zombie with about a foot of spinal cord separating his head from his body. Very nice there, and good effects as well.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this film to fans of zombie films, or even just fans of horror. It fits about midway between the styles of the classics and the modern, so whether you're a fan of the old-school or the new-school style of zombie films, you'll likely enjoy this one. 9/10.

To anybody who hasn't seen it: DON'T HATE! This movie PWNed. the story was off and I found the lead charecters to be amungst the stupidest horror heroes ever. But the gore was decent, the kills were nice (even the off screen), and the ending was preety friggin' sweet. 8/10.
