In his top floor apartment, a man awakens to the screeching of his alarm clock. As he fumbles for the snooze button, the entire clock suddenly fades away. Naturally, this gets his attention and as he sits up and looks around, he notices that everything in his apartment is also disappearing. Just before his bed goes, dropping him to the floor, he notices the door has also vanished, trapping him inside. His only access to the outside world is his window, forty stories above the noisy street. Screaming for help isn't an option, so he has to do anything he can to get his cries for help out.

I'm sure it goes without saying that when you're trying to tell a story, doing it in under five minutes isn't an easy task. Nothing handles it brilliantly.

I loved the animation style chosen for this release. It's a very minimalistic design; for the most part it's just black sketches on a yellow background. Aesthetically, it looks great, and along with the creepy tune provided by Domokos Vara, it fits the isolation theme beautifully. Plus, it's amazing what Demeter Lorant was able to achieve with such a subtle art form in such a small amount of time. He had absolutely no trouble conveying the characters sense of panic at his predicament. As effective as it all was, I have no idea why he wouldn't use this same style for the girl who appears later in the film. She's very illustrated and cartoony, and it just sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the movie.
I really enjoyed Nothing. I'm not going to pretend I fully understood the message he was trying to get across, but it's still an engaging piece. And at five minutes, what have you got to lose? 8/10.

I think it might be a guy who has lost everything
so he decides to commit suicide. Then he fades to
nothingness. The little girl stood out amongst
all the drones who never notice anything. At least
that's how I saw it. It was very good.

It's an alright short. I'm not to impressed. Sure
the idea is interesting but the animation has it's
flaws. The girl looks weird in contrast to it all.
Also have a problem with the knife he takes out of
his pocket (what he wore pants?), I mean it's not
even a switchblade one, he just sleeps with a
knife in his pocket I guess. 5/10

out. Forgot to mention that.
