Lincoln is a crime scene investigator, and he's working a case under a subway. As he's scoping the body out, a beam falls on him, paralyzing him from the neck down. Fast forward to four years later, and he's conversing with a doctor friend of his about assisted suicide because he can't stand to live like this any longer. The doctor agrees, when he returns from a conference next week, he'll do it. Around this time, some old cop buddies of Lincoln's come to visit, with some questions about a crime scene. Amelia happened to have been around when the body was found, and snapped some pictures of everything, so the cops brought her to Lincoln to get his advice on what's up. Lincoln realizes that this chick is quite good at crime scene stuff, so he persuades her to stick around and help out with the case; he communicates with her via a headset and walks her through various crime scenes as they try to track down the person that's knocking off people left and right.

Nice thriller here. The storyline kept a nice flow, and it stayed interesting throughout; however, some of the clues that were deciphered to find out various information seemed a bit off the wall. Now, Lincoln is supposedly a genius at crime scene analysis, and I can buy that; but some of the stuff he figured out, based on minute things, just seemed stretching it. But I'm not into the whole crime scene phenomenon, so maybe it's not as stretched as it would seem. Just bugged me a bit, but nothing huge.

As I mentioned above, the storyline was nicely done. It was interesting enough to be made into a movie, so indeed, it did stay fresh throughout; however, it wasn't so silly that it seemed unrealistic, except for the whole clue deciphering thing I mentioned above. Denzel Washington did a damned fine job as Lincoln, the paralyzed guy, in what I would have expected to be a quite restraining role. No sir, no problems from him. Angelina Jolie also did nice as Amelia, going from a take-no-shit gal, to scared-shitless, to comforting, and back to the take-no-shit. Nice transitions to be had from her, and none of them seemed too forced or phony.

With a serial killer on the loose, there has to be some nice kills and whatnot, correct? Indeed so, some were quite imaginitive and nicely done. Sure, there were a few ordinary gunshots and off-screen kills, but for the most part, they were very nicely done... especially the one with the rats, which is a scene to look for.

Overall, if you're into crime / police thrillers, you may very well enjoy this one. 7/10.
