Diana is happily married to Paolo but due to her wild passion for sex, she regularly winds up in short lived erotic adventures, which she doesn't keep hidden from Paolo. On the contrary: by telling him, their sexual relationship is fueled with fresh impulses. When Diana experiences a stormy affair with the poet Alphonse, Paolo gets jealous after all and rejects Diana, who then goes head first in to a wild orgy of sexual excess with her sister and some friends. --IMDb

In the third film from the first volume of the Tinto Brass Collection, we watch as a young couple consisting of Diana (Claudia Koll) and Paolo (Paolo Lanza) learn a few things about love and relationships. It all begins at a party, where Diana meets and dances with a French poet (Franco Branciaroli) who immediately makes the moves on her. It turns out that this French fellow is a big fan of the female posterior, and considering that Diana has a rather large ass, well... needless to say, this particular Frenchman is ready to "go to war", if you know what I mean. Of course, Diana's husband is just a tad bit jealous of another guy pawing his wife, but these feelings of jealousy translate to a wild night of sex when all is said and done.

After this evening becomes nothing more than a memory, Diana discovers that her sex drive can not be confined to just one man, regardless of how much she loves him. Her newfound impulses start out innocently enough, with her flashing a little skin on the train or "accidentally" brushing up against one of the men on the bus. She hides none of this from her husband, their sex life is great, and everyone is happy - that is, until she decides to meet up with the French guy again. Although she doesn't technically cheat on her husband (since "he only fucked [her] in the ass", as she so eloquently puts it), Paolo still comes unglued after she tells him about their night together. He threatens to divorce her, and now, Diana must find a way to convince her man that he means the world to her... but she doesn't want to be limited in her bedroom choices, either. Interesting.

After reading the descriptions of this film and The Key, you're probably thinking that they're both the same basic thing. While it's true that the basic storylines are similar, they play out very differently from one another, with this one being more of a focus on the free-love mindset that was made so popular in the sixties and how it affects a marriage. Also, I should point out once again that this is not one of those softcore films that features a flimsy storyline which serves only to further the sex scenes; no, the storyline here was surprisingly deep and entertaining.

Now, that's not to say that Brass skipped on the nudity and sex this time around - far from it. There's an abundance of it on display, with a lot of emphasis on asses (in both storyline and visual terms) and artistic shots. Tinto Brass could easily be considered the Italian version of Sir Mix-A-Lot due to his near obsession with this chunk of the female body. Most of the "action" is pretty softcore, but there are a couple of scenes involving actresses uninvolved with the main story that do dip into the hardcore side of things. I wouldn't go so far as to call these scenes shocking, but they were definitely surprising.

Overall, it's another interesting section of the Tinto Brass collection. I'll freely admit that I'm no expert on the man's career so I can't compare this to his rather large body of earlier work, but as a standalone film, I enjoyed it. Before you get it into your head that I only liked it for Brass' ass-fixation and the abundant nudity, let me point out that the woman of the house managed to get sucked into the storyline and eventually wound up watching the entire thing with me. When an erotic film manages to capture someone's attention (a woman, no less) for the storyline itself, well - it has to be doing something right. 8/10.
