In 2084, mankind is near total annihilation by alien invaders. Milly, a young woman from the Earth resistance, uses a time machine and returns to October 2002, trying to avoid the beginning of alien invasion and the war. In her arrival in a ship, she is rescued and saved from the Yakuza evil boss Mizoguchi by a hit-man called Miyamot. Using unconventional methods, Milly forces Miyamoto to help her to save the human race. --IMDb

We start out in the year 2084. The earth has been destroyed and most people have been killed by alien beings. The few remaining people have built up a resistance army, and some scientists have built a time machine to send someone back in time to prevent the war from ever happening. Cut to the present time. Mizoguchi runs a child ring alright, but it isn't slave labor as the description above says. He kidnaps them off the streets, kills them, and sells their organs. Miyamoto is attempting to stop this, but just as he puts the trigger to Mizoguchi's head to kill him, Millie comes into the scene and is almost killed by Miyamoto. This distraction allows Mizoguchi to escape. Millie explains why she's here and what her mission is, and Miyamoto gladly offers his services to her.

Some descriptions I read elsewhere, as well as the trailer, would lead you to believe this movie is packed-full of alien action. It's not. The aliens are pretty scarce in the movie, which is a good thing. Most of the movie focuses on the humans of the plot. The descriptions / trailer would also lead you to believe it's a Matrix ripoff. Again, it's not. There are some scenes where everything is slowed down and such, similar to The Matrix, but there's actually a valid reason for all that, which you'll discover if you decide to watch this.

Speaking of that trailer, as I was. I usually watch the trailers of movies before watching the actual movie itself, if said trailer is available on the DVD. That was a huge mistake with this selection. The trailer spoils the ending scenes, so be forewarned if you care to be suprised.

This is available in dubbed english dialogue, or Japanese dialogue with english subtitles. The dubbing is decent enough, it captures the general plotline pretty well; however, some of the phrases and words they used don't match up in the english dub. Take your pick on which you prefer, accurary, or convenience. The special effects in this movie were fantastic. The alien, the ships, and the Matrix-Motion scenes were very nicely executed. There was also a lot more blood in here than in most American action movies of this nature, which was a pleasant suprise. Instead of a bit of blood leaking from bullet wounds as seems to be the norm here nowadays, the gunshot wounds explode into a mist of blood, which is both more realistic, and better looking on the screen. A small thing, granted, but it was very nicely done.

Again, that ending I mentioned. If you were foolish enough to go against my advice and watch the trailer beforehand, you'll see the ending coming a few scenes before it happens. Otherwise, it's quite the shock ending when it happens, and it was a nice way to finish up the movie.

9/10, highly recommended if you dig action flicks.
