Chad has his Redneck Zombies, and now I've got a little piece of hometown talent to add to our beloved site.

Our short film for this evening focuses on Ted (Spencer Butler), a young man who is obsessed with comics. Any comic fan knows this feeling exactly, and also knows it's pretty much impossible to maintain a normal relationship while trying to keep up with 25 different story lines a month, and still find time to go back and hit up the classics.

It would seem however, Ted is a little more comic crazy than the average Joe. He reads comics in the shower, while brushing his teeth, and while eating breakfast. It is while he's enjoying a bowl of Cheerios and a Detective Comic that he notices a letter from his girlfriend, Lois. She's had enough of his comic reading ways, and wants a man who can look after her. Ted then has to search inside himself and decide what is more important in his life, his girlfriend, or his comics. The end result turns out to be quite funny and very touching as well.

Braeden Gosse is a kid a few years younger than me, and he's already showing more potential and talent than a lot of adult filmmakers who've sent me their work. He has some really creative and unconventional shots in there, and makes good use of the contrast between the colour and black & white scenes. Like I've said before, music can make or break a film. Aside from a short blooper scene after the credits, not a word is spoken for this whole film. So naturally, most of the emotion and tone of the film relies on the music. This did not disappoint in the least, ranging from some mellow rock bands to the Superman theme.

Overall, I thought this was a fantastic first film. It was short, but it had a lot of heart, and did a great job of telling the story with no dialogue whatsoever. I recommend everyone check it out, as it's only 5 minutes long and a very funny little film.
