The ABC's OF DEATH is an ambitious anthology film featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world's leading talents in contemporary genre film. Inspired by children's educational ABC books, the motion picture is comprised of 26 individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death. Also, For those unaware of the ABC's of Death Rules/Contest, film must be 4 minutes or less (excluding title and credits), start with the letter T, and open and close on Red.
T is for Tag is Shane Ryan's take/entry into this project, and to me, it's a confusing one. The gist of the story (from what I can figure out) is that there's two sisters who had a troubled past, one of which blaming the other for the problems. The short is basically a conversation between the two of them alluding to what might have happened, but to me, it never really pans out to give a feeling of resolution even after the final actions of the film. Other than the story aspects, I thought the rest of the short was shot pretty well. The music choice was haunting, the shots were "artsy" (which the film seemed to be going for), and the blood effects were decent enough.
The film is available for anyone to watch at http://26th.theabcsofdeath.com/t-is-for-tag/, and if you're reading this, at least take the four minutes to check it out to make up your own opinion, but to me, I just wasn't feeling it.
2/10.
