Connections: Jackass

Johnny Knoxville and his crazy friends appear on the big screen for the very first time in Jackass: The Movie. They wander around Japan in panda outfits, wreak havoc on a once civilized golf court, they even do stunts involving LIVE alligators, and so on. While Johnny Knoxvile and his pals put their life at risk, they are entertaining people at the same time. Get ready for Jackass: The Movie! --IMDb

First of all, let me say that I loathed the television show "Jackass", just as much as I loathed "The Tom Green Show" when it was on television. It pains me to think that a few idiots and no-talent hacks could make millions from beating the hell out of each other and breaking every bone in their body. It's just not funny to me. It wasn't funny on television and it is even less funny on the big screen. It summation--"Jackass: The Movie" is the worst film of the year and one of the worst films ever made.

The most troubling aspect of the film is that it was not given a much deserved NC-17 rating, and was instead slapped with the far too lenient R rating. This film shows male genitalia, people sticking things up their rears, alligators biting nipples, and even shows one guy crapping in his pants, followed closely by someone eating their own urine. These jokes are disgusting, tasteless, and do not belong in the same theatres as films like "Moonlight Mile" and "Autofocus".

There is no plot to this waste of time and money. All of the performers from the television show are the stars of this film, and the entire picture is spent showing them entangled in pointless stunts and pain tests, like when head honcho Johnny Knoxville has his friends paper cut him between all of his fingers, or when he purposely lets super-heavyweight champion Butterbean split his head open, requiring a trip to the hospital and numerous stitches. What in the hell is the point? It is not funny. It is stupid. It made me feel pity for these poor retards instead of thinking how risky and talented they were. They all belong in psychiatric institutions or penal wards.

Another troubling factor is that the brilliant and hilarious Spike Jonze would have anything to do with this dirge. Jonze has a cameo in the film and even helped pen the script, though I don't see why a script was even required. Other celebrities like Rip Taylor and Tony Hawk pop up with cameos, but they are not humorous and merely inserted to draw a larger audience. How crafty indeed. Not!

Johnny Knoxville is the only member of the "Jackass" clan who has potential in the film arena. He was pretty funny in the film "Big Trouble" and showed slight charisma in "Men in Black 2". Maybe he can leave "Jackass" behind him, not that he seems to want to. The rest of the clan will probably either become waiters or die of drug overdoses before too long and will doubtfully ever achieve any success. "Jackass: The Movie" is pure garbage and nothing will ever come out that is half as bad as this. I've had bowel movements that were more interesting. 0/10.

Life's too short to be serious about your movies all the time. Sometimes it's nice to just be dumb and enjoy dumb humor. And in that situation, this movie rules.

Maybe it's OK as a TV show, but not a full length motion picture. This kind of humor just gets old after a while. It enrages me that a film like this could be given a budget and domestic release when there are far better films out there struggling to get any attention whatsoever. I am not always serious about my films, but I am serious about film, in general -- and this certainly does not qualify as that.

I have to go with the majority here: from the moment I hit 'play' on my DVD player, I couldn't stop laughing until the credits rolled. 9/10.

Meanie you are too much of a hater sometimes. It seems like you already want to hate a film before you go to see it. But then again that's alright, it's your opinion.
