It's time yet again for some sexploitation sleaze, and what better way to dive into this subgenre than to take a look at one of the first releases from the newly-founded Secret Key Motion Pictures?
Babes in Kongland (formerly released as both Planet of the Erotic Ape and World of Erotic Ape) tells the tale of a mad scientist who, along with the help of his assistant, constructs a device that will allow them to pick up television programming from the furthest reaches of the universe. They use this new creation to look at lesbian porn (four segments with Candy Doll and Addie Morton, to be precise) like any fine, upstanding citizens would, but the device screws up when they try for selection number five. This particular error doesn't result in something as simple as a screen full of static or a Matt Damon movie, but instead, it transports the mad scientist to a world where men have been banished and the women "have their needs fulfilled" by an ape - an erotic ape, that is. Jenny Wallace, Lisa Schneider, Julie Strain, and others make appearances as the ape-loving women.
Secret Key Motion Pictures is a softcore / erotica label coming from some of the folks responsible for Seduction Cinema, so it should come as no surprise that this title features a lot of lesbian action and goofy comedy. All of that is delivered in spades, and aside from Julie Strain, all of the women featured here are relative newcomers to Secret Key / Seduction (at least, I didn't recognize any of them from previous films). While it's nice to see your favorites in a new film, it's also nice to get a couple of fresh faces every once in a while, and you'll get that here.
There's also some fairly humorous moments to be found here, especially when the mad scientist (sorry, didn't catch his name) is interacting with his assistant (again, didn't catch a name). The assistant disappears from the plot once the leading man winds up in this new world, and from there, we get a couple of funny scenes between the scientist and the queen of this planet. Of course, the scenes involving the ape are hilarious; after all, how often do you get to see four women going apeshit (pardon the pun) over a primate before getting down to business with him?
It's a new label and there are a lot of new ladies here, but fans of Seduction Cinema will definitely enjoy this one. It features everything we've come to know and love from them while building up some new actresses, so give it a shot. 7/10.
