For those of you well acquainted with the zombie movie that started it all, you will probably remember the zombie in the opening 5 minutes. The big, lumbering man who chases Barbara into her car, breaks the window with a brick, etc. Well believe it or not, this particular zombie extra didn't disappear like all the rest. 20 years later, he decided to write, produce, edit, direct and star in his very own feature film. This came in the "Zombie Pack 2" release along with Zombi Holocaust and Burial Grounds. Both of those were great films, and this one is anything but. When you work out the math, it cost about $8.44, so I didn't spend a small fortune on it or anything, but I wouldn't have minded getting something else in my little box set.

A group of college kids take a hay ride into the middle of the woods so they can presumably smoke pot, drink and knock boots. It's a horror movie, so fair enough. In these same woods, a farmer is tearing up an old stump, and finds a tombstone with a pentagram carved into it. It's a horror movie, so fair enough. Unfortunately for our farmer friend, the tombstone is at the head of a coffin containing the Flesheater (Bill Hinzman). Hinzman wakes up, attacks the farmer, and you know the rest. Two of the kids take off to a small barn for a little "roll in the hay" if you will, but they got quite the surprise when Flesheater showed up, dispatching them both in only a few seconds. I've seen some bad special effects, and I still think I could have pulled off better ones with my friends and one of the several "How To" books I've seen floating around out there.

The rest of the kids, oblivious to their friend's demise, are brainstorming ideas for a funtastic time. Among these stellar suggestions is Frisbee, which is apparently huge with the college kids. And judging by this movie, acid washed jeans and jean jackets were all the rage, since each kid is wearing both. The kids are running a little low on the liquor, so they ask the farmer who drove them up there to stop off in town and pick some up on the way back. And wouldn't you know it, he never makes it to town. One of the girls sees what happened to him, and rather than run back to tell her friends, she tears off into the woods, shedding her clothes for some reason. Well kiddies, she doesn't make it out either. The kids decide to take refuge in a nearby farmhouse by boarding up the windows and doors. Sound familiar? Well after all the kids are zombified, they, along with the Flesheater and farmers, walk to the nearest town and start killing people off.

This movie was abysmal. Terrible acting, dialogue, continuity, effects, sound, everything. It felt like the work of a 14 year old Film Studies student, not a 50 year old man. Zombie fan or not, don't rent, buy, borrow, or download this movie. While I haven't seen Zombie Nation, I am convinced this is the worst zombie movie out there. And I've seen some stinkers. Every other scene is a blatant rip-off of NotLD, and doesn't even come close to doing it justice. The only reason this movie isn't getting a well deserved zero is because of the nudity. It was sparse, the women weren't much in the way of eye candy, but nudity is nudity right? Guys?

1/10.
